Rocking Chair Project

The Rocking Chair Project

I the idea from watching a number of shows that talk about restoring things and giving them a second chance. So I starting combing yard sales and thrift stores for a project, and I found this Rocking Chair.

Found the Rocking Chair at a yard sale for $20

When I got the chair home I had a number of ideas for it.  Paint in a bright color, put some stencils on it, but Tim talked me into just repainting it white. But before I could repaint the chair i need to sand it down to get rid of the stains and black marks on it.

After sanding it down the best I could (thanks Tim for letting me sand it in your warehouse in Mesquite, so I didn't have to do it in the heat of St. George).  It was paint time! I used a horse hair paint brush, which Tim says give the chair character :). After a couple afternoons of painting I finished my first restoration project, and I'm rather happy with it. I've thought of selling it but, family members and Tim talking me into keeping it just incase we decided to grow-up and have kids :).

The finished project
